Background:
The Act is aimed at combating the crimes of slavery and human trafficking.
Section 54 of the Act acknowledges that businesses have a role to play in achieving this aim by taking steps to ensure such crimes do not occur within their organisation or supply chains and being transparent about what these steps are.
Our commitment:
Responsible Person – Matt Burger, Director
Business structure:
Directors
Back Office including *Compliance, *Operations, Finance, IT, *HR
Functions involved in ensuring MSA crimes do not occur are marked with an asterix.
Front Office including Recruitment Consultants, Principal Recruiters and Account Managers
We are committed to combating these crimes and to working with suppliers who share this commitment.
We have clauses written into our contracts relating to the Modern Slavery Act (produced by legal professionals at LawSpeed).
We do not meet the turnover criteria to necessitate an annual MSA Statement - but we do meet the other 2 criteria ie 1) a UK business and 2) providing services. We will review our turnover annually to assess if a MSA Statement is required.
We deal directly with individual work seekers and with individuals providing services under contracts for services. We gain their right to represent for GDPR purposes but also for MSA reasons, and we verify compliance in respect of right to work in the UK, proof of ID, proof of address. If we had any concerns they would be escalated to the appropriate person, body or authority.
We do not take individuals from a 3rd party for the purpose of placing them in permanent or contract work unless they are:
Provided to us by an umbrella company - in which case we will have already sourced them and gone through the initial recruitment lifecycle with them prior to them registering with the umbrella.
Contractors working through a PSC/their own Limited Company in which case they will be named as Directors at Companies House and have gone through the relevant checks.
Suppliers:
We carry out due diligence on our suppliers to ensure they share our values and comply with legal requirements and the partnership requirements of SWF.
Internal queries please refer in the first instance to Staff Handbook and Training Manual.
